While the vast majority of PC students have their own computers, it is not required by the college.
The college has a recommended laptop program handled by CompUtopia. They are the only officially endorsed vendor of computers. You can find more information about the computers they sell at their website. All computers from CompUtopia meet or beat our minimum recommendations and requirements.
The Helpdesk will only support student-owned computers to a certain degree. You can find out more at the Computer Support and Repairs page. CompUtopia has a service center and storefront on campus where they will support any computers under their warranty free of charge and any computer not currently under a warranty with another vendor for a fee. However, they will support Apple computers that are covered by Apple Care. There is also an Apple Store in the Providence Place Mall, which is a short bus ride from campus.
We have created a page with information about our requirements and recommendations for computers on campus. In addition, you should also see our support and repair policy.
You will receive your userid and password at orientation. Unfortunately, we cannot give you this information earlier as you are required to physically sign a usage agreement form before you receive your account information. See also our Email FAQ.
