The Providence After School Alliance is a public/private venture that is working to expand and improve the quality of after school opportunities for the youth of Providence by building a system of after school supports. This system will provide access for all youth in the City to high quality after school programs and learning opportunities.
| Job Title: Youth Engagement Specialist Job Description: Youth engagement specialists report directly to the respective AfterZone site supervisor and work collaboratively with each middle school’s after-school liaison, and the AfterZone Manager. The engagement specialists will also work with staff from the agency managing the individual AfterZone site and the staff of the Providence After School Alliance during program activities, orientation, training, and other capacity-building activities. Primary responsibilities include: • Assisting with all aspects of after school program set-up and clean-up (table-tents, information booth, program tables, bus tables, snack area) • Directing the flow of student traffic and organizing student transportation • Monitoring youth traveling to and from programs on buses and vans • Aiding in the snack distribution • Assisting with after-school programs, as needed, including enrichment programs, workshops, homework assistance, etc. • Communicating with and supporting program staff providing youth programs • Facilitating recruitment and special events • Supporting the overall AfterZone program, as necessary Special Skills: • Desire to work with middle school youth in a positive youth development atmosphere • Creativity, patience, a good work ethic, and a sense of humor • Experience working with youth • High school diploma or GED |
