The library is open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 2am, Friday 8am to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 10pm, and Sunday 9am to 2am. The Library has special hours during exams, Semester Break, holidays, and summers. Latest information is available on the Library homepage, or telephone 401-865-2242 (Select Option 1)
If you are a student:
- Use the PC-Secure network for access. You will need a valid PC email username and your password.
If you are NOT a student:
- Use the PC-Guest network for access. Please see a staff member for information about guest wireless.
There are several Mac's in back digital room on the first floor for students to access. There is also a Mac at the Information Station on the first floor, and another upstairs at the Support Station. All of these computers are available for use by students.
There are five copy machines located in the library. Four of the copiers are located on the main floor. Two of them are next to the water fountain and the other two are near government documents. These copiers do not take cash and only accept money from your PC id. There is a machine in between the two copiers near the water fountain in which you can add friar bucks to or purchase a guest card for one dollar. These machines do not accept coins, only dollar bills. There is also another copy machine on the upper level in which does accept cash as well as your PC id.
There are no fax machines available in the library. There are, however, scanners which can send documents via email. The scanners are located in the MAC Lab.
You can renew books yourself by logging onto the Phillips Memorial Library homepage. On the main page under Quick Links, click on Renew Books. From here simply follow the instructions by typing in your name and library bardcode which is located on the back of your PC id. At this point, click on the link for items checked out and click the books in which you would like to renew.
Feel free to bring your own laptop to the library. There are 31 laptops that students may check out for two hour periods. To do so, visit the circulation where all you need is you PC-id. There are also all on floors of the library. On the first floor computers by reference, in front of Government Documents, 3 MACS in the MAC lab, and computers located in the group study rooms. On the ground floor there are computers directly down the main stairway. On the 2nd floor there are computers located in central area as well as in the computer labs.
You can request inter library loans yourself, just enter into the HELIN system and search for the book you need. Then all you will need is your PC ID to enter the necessary information HELIN will ask for. When it has been received at PC, you will receive an email saying that your book is ready for pick up.
The E-classroom is located on the upper back level of the library. There are eighteen computers for students to access. It is open durinng the day for students to access when it is not in use for class instruction. It is also open in the late evenings from 7pm to 12am, Sunday through Thursday.
Renovations are complete! Make sure you stop by and check out the great new furniture and beautiful compact shelving on the 2nd floor. New computers have been added as well. The Library is once again a great place to study or just have a comfy place to hang out.

A few comments...
There are actually 5 copiers in the library. Take a look over near government documents. The machine that lets you add friar bucks also lets you purchase a guest card. The eclassroom is also open during the day for student use when it is not in use for class instruction. Please quantify the number of Macs available in the Mac Lab, and do another read through for typos. There is no spell check feature in here. Looks good.
