Outlook-scan Cannot Load

The following error message is known to appear each time Microsoft Outlook 2007 starts up:

The add-in “outlook-scan” (C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScanEnterprise\Scanotlk.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook.Please contact the Add-In manufacturer for an update.If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in.

You may need to delete the file called extend.dat, which is in a hidden directory.  In Microsoft Vista, this file is stored in the directory C:\Users\(your username)\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook .The McAfee KnowledgeBase gives a step by step process on how to do this here. Before you delete this file, close Microsoft Outlook.
